ON THE EDGE

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise" (Jer. 17:14).

Sexual abuse is such a tragedy. The victims who are

left behind may suffer for years with the hurt and pain

they've endured. One's most powerful healing comes

when God is invited to be part of the process. First, He

can help you forgive the person who violated you. He can

restore feelings that had become numb, replace anger

with love, and He can even return a commitment to

virginity. Your body may have been violated, but the

commitment of your heart must endure-to wait on

marriage before choosing sex. The Lord will prepare the

spouse who is loving and understanding. And He will

honor the marriage of one who didn't let the evil of this

world get the final victory. What a gift to your future

spouse to be able to say, "I may have been sexually

abused, but in every choice I've made, I have chosen to

wait for you."
